The already frosty relations between Moscow and the US are being put under further strain with the arrival of two Russian bombers in Venezuela. Moscow insists they are just on a training mission but with Russian ships also due in the Carribean later this year, both deployments are being seen as a tit-for-tat response to US movements in Russia's backyard. The Russian foreign minister is currently in Poland to express his concern over Washington's plans for a missile defence shield based in former Soviet States. Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports.

  6. Kibou Says:
The united states has the highest prison population in the world. Mostly Hispanics and African Americans are rounded up on falsified charges and then hurried through corrupt trials, this is called Anglo Justice. Anglo Justice is a corrupt legal system engineered to murder, and rob the vulnerable. Hugo Chavez is far more legitimate then any other american leader. America only Lies , Cheats, and Steals for its gain. This country invented nothing, its a joke. I hope the Russians free us all soon.
  7. Kalin Says:
    BRAVO CHAVEZ!
  8. Art Says:

  9. Fainche Says:
I wonder how long this rhetoric will last with the barrel of crude oil at 45$US...
  10. Tom Says:
The US has shooted too quickly " Mission accomplished"... They are "uncultivated" those who believed that Russian army was definitively out... As Russians are far from being inoffensive... It is enough to note this eagerness and this agitation of certains EU-Isr-USA affiliated ministers who run to Moscow trying to prevent weapons sales towards countries that "propaganda" press pro-nato...call "evil axis" or " gangster state" ! But russians said them: No pain...no gain !
  11. VANNESS Says:
its no need to shut down us news media CAN U NAME just one new media in the us that is NOT neocon/zionist owned? the lies out of us news media is enough to shame even the devil why was 0ver 200 journalist shot in iraq? one as the us army said an american machine gun "engaged" him 3pm on a sunny day outside ABU GABI jail in full view of everybody there he dare report the truth n his reports were NOT for us viewing he was German american news more control than ST QUENTIN prison
  12. Jaelynn Says:

  14. Mohammed Says:
America's backyard? Now Venezuela became freakin America's backyard? Fuck I hate this notion that US owns the world. Now they are gonna get fucked from behind!
  15. AEGISTHUS Says:
Asdqwezxc69... You condone the closing of a TV station based on fabricated allegations by Chavez the tyrant. If you're not young...you're stupid. Tell me, how many people around the world are trying to bust into Venezuela vs America. Torture at gitmo? Got proof? I didn't think so.
  16. Pensee Says:
"Sure the US is far from perfect." You've got that right. "Compare our human rights policies to Russia's or Venezuela's." And you go on comparing the worst issue of American foreign and domestic policy. Torture? Guantanamo? CIA? War? No single payer healthcare? Prisons? Which human rights were talking about again? Oh I get it, the right to be invaded, tortured and murdered, while denying their own citizens affordable health care. US rocks regarding human rights. I should know better.
  17. Anevay Says:
You've made my point for me. You know nothing about Venezuela. The concession ended when it was supposed to, not because he said so. My Western European democracy works the same way, as do most 'advanced' countries. This has nothing to do with the sensationalist freedom of speech spin. It shows how little you know and how much of a fool you've made yourself look like. We've all heard about propaganda but do you know what it means? Can you tell the difference? I don't think so.
  18. Chana Says:
You're funny. Unfortunately, you're childish too. You've just made my point for me. Do you know how TV stations work in modern countries aka "democracies"? Here's a tip: concessions. The President has to right to renew or not to renew the permit and since that particular TV Station played a role in the 2002 coup, he chose not to, which is fair to say the least. Are you familiar with Treason? Not something you take lightly under law. He did nothing illegal, it's strictly Constitutional.
  19. Garson Says:
asdqwezxc69.. Well, so much for having a civil discussion. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt by assuming that you are probably an adolescent. As for Bush. Screw him. Although I don't recall him shutting down TV stations that dissented from the Republican talking points as did your hero Chavez.
  20. Lucas Says:
You're ridiculous. I could say Venezuela is more democratic than the US, but that's not saying much. Did Bush ever order a referendum on an important issue/change, say Patriot Act, War, Guantanamo, HealthCare? Who's the tyrant again? It's time you people realize the non-sense and propaganda. You have no idea what you're talking about, in fact, you don't know the first thing about democracy, you never had one. Now go home and hang on to your guns, religion and Fox News.
  21. Fayette Says:
askqwezxc69.. Agree. Chavez is indeed a leader. A tyrannical leader... but a leader.
  22. ABDUL-HAQQ Says:
dang homer30.. Sure the US is far from perfect. But we're still a noble nation despite our faults. Compare our human rights policies to Russia's or Venezuela's.
  23. Naiyah Says:
Any action against Venezuela will cause fuel prices to skyrocket. You wouldn't want that with the fabulous current status of US economy. Hugo Chavez is a leader, not a puppet, unlike so many others. Americans need to realize that national independence is very important. Imagine if China, Russia and India played that game? The thing with Russians is that they're not afraid of war, specially with all those KGB guys in office.
  24. HARRIET Says:
This is what US gets for being a bully. Now other nations are stepping up. They don't want to be bullied no more. They are now willing to face the bully.
  25. Gideon Says:
The leader of Venezuela is go ghetto. I expect more from Venezuelan to elect someone who has more common sense. Basically, if they keep it up, U.S will kick the shit out of them.
