Ford F-150 SVT Raptor Unleashed @ 2008 SEMA

FOR FULL SEMA COVERAGE: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/autoshows/sema/2008/2010fordf150svtraptornews.html LAS VEGAS — Ford gave journalists an early look today at the F-150 SVT Raptor, a high-performance off-road truck that will make its world debut at the 2008 SEMA Show. Designed for hard-core off-road use, the F-150 SVT Raptor gets a long list of suspension upgrades along with unique bodywork and an optional 6.2-liter V8 engine. The Raptor is the first application of the new 6.2-liter V8 and although its specifications haven't been finalized, Ford officials said to expect around 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. A 5.4-liter 3-valve V8 is the standard engine. Both engines are backed by a six-speed automatic transmission. All Raptors will come standard with four-wheel drive and a locking rear differential. Suspension upgrades include new upper and lower A-arms up front, retuned leaf springs in back and a set of race-quality Fox Racing Shox that combine to allow up to 11.2 inches of travel up front and 13.4 inches in back. The track is 7 inches wider than a standard F-150, so the Raptor also gets wider front and rear fenders along with longer half-shafts and a revised tie rod to maintain proper suspension geometry. The standard 17-inch wheels are cast aluminum while the specially designed BFGoodrich tires measure 315/70R17. The interior features bucket seats with additional side bolstering, metallic door trim, a unique SVT instrument panel and a set of console-mounted auxiliary switches for owner-installed accessories. Ford officials said they expect to begin production of the F-150 SVT Raptor in the summer of 2009.

Byrd Cara Cara knife: High Value Raptor

Are you kidding me? I bought this knife for $16. And yet it has just about all the quality of a Spyderco mainline Endura. It deploys wicked fast, locks up tight, has sharp jimping both on top AND bottom of the blade, it has skeletonized liners, good traction Zytel handle, excellent clip (that's positionable!), good 8Cr13MoV steel, and an excellent grind. It compares quite well agains the Endura and actually is better in some areas, like ease of deployment. Wow. Ten years ago getting a knife like this for under $20 was merely a dream but thanks to the tight quality control of Spyderco/Byrd this knife is thankfully a reality. It sets the bar for high value knives extremely high. Man it's a great time to be into knives. Nutnfancy's Likeability Scale: 8 out of 10 Correction: At the start I meant to say the Byrd brand, not Cara Cara brand.
